Type, Image, Message: A Graphic Design Layout Book

"The relationships among type, image and message must be continuously integrated from the beginning of the design process. Collage is often a fertile starting point that leads immediately to experimental relationships between pictures and text."

- Nancy Skolos & Thomas Wedell

In the reading, Type, Image, Message: A Graphic Design Layout Book by Nancy Skolos & Thomas Wedell, we see two examples of posters designed by the authors themselves that utilize the juxtaposition of photography and collage to form meaning. The quote above really sums up the content of this reading, I think it's a tendency for young designers to look at image and type separately when beginning a project. In order to create a unified composition from the get go, we do need to be conscious of their relationship throughout the process. I will definitely keep this quote in mind as I move forwards.
