Phase IV - Managing

Fizz Bomb is a small independent soda fountain mixing up handcrafted sodas and other tasty delectables from our shop down in the Crossroads of KCMO. We’re passionate about creating concoctions that we, and our customers believe in—quality sodas, made well, using the best ingredients.

While we take our soda seriously, we also believe that brand and the experience of drinking soda should embody its qualities: energetic, sophisticated, creative, and fun!

Our mission is to inspire a sense of community, creativity, and joy that will bring out the best qualities in all of us. It’s not just about the products, but about the connections we make with others, and qualities we learn about ourselves through the experiencing the brand.

DS: Focus

My focus will be on the more tactile experiences of the brand such as packaging, and interior graphics. Fizz Bomb is primarily a sit down experience, but also carries a variety of products such as bottled soda and candies to extend the brand beyond it's main physical location. There's opportunity to create a cohesive location-based designed experience, which the competitors fail to do.

If time allows, I'd like to also create a motion piece that would exist within the space to further visualize the explosive nature of soda in time based experience.

DS: Phase II Presentation

The essence of my brand is about being receptive to experience. Yet, before we can truly taste these flavors, we need four key ingredients: energy, sophistication, creativity, and fun. These ingredients make up the qualities of soda and are the heart of the brand.  My goal is to attract a younger more diverse audience by visually embodying the qualities of soda and creating a medium that will foster community, creativity, and joy.

Fizz Bomb is an explosion of the flavors and excitement you feel when you experience soda. Located in the Crossroads of Kansas City, Fizz Bomb is open to serving those looking for a unique experience who live, work, or visit the neighborhood.

DS: Phase I Presentation

Back in the day soda fountains were THE social hot spot! People of all ages would gather around this bubbly beverage for a taste of community and joy. Soda itself was considered an art form. Different fountains had signature drinks and often attempted to outdo each other with new and unique flavors.

The art of soda, unfortunately, has fallen off the map for some time. Yet today, there are a handful of people bringing back this nostalgic practice. The landscape of this resurgence, however, lacks a medium for social interaction, focus on a diverse audience, and a well-designed experience.

My plan is to develop a brand and experience that embodies the qualities of soda: Energetic, Sophisticated, Creative, and Fun. By embodying these attributes I hope to attract a younger more diverse audience and create a medium that will foster community, creativity, and joy.

Soda has a long history and flavors that are timeless yet it shouldn’t be taken too seriously, it’s soda!

DS: Candy & Soda Pop Shop

My plan is to focus on some teeth rotting goodness. Take you back to a simpler time where you had to ask your mother if you could eat all that good stuff.

When I was a kid, my elementary school took a field trip to Bloom's Candy and Soda Pop Shop in downtown Carrollton. I'm not sure how old it is, but it's been there for quite some time and still exists today. Nowadays most of their customers are adults. I like to believe it's not about the candy, but about remembering the past and being a kid again, that's what interest me.
